Professional Pointer Training in Utah

Our pointing dog programs are designed for owners who want more than basic obedience. We develop hunting dogs through proper bird introduction, proper gun introduction, field work, whoa training, whistle commands, e-collar conditioning, and real hunting scenarios with birds shot over the dog.

Whether your goal is a practical first-season gun dog or a more complete family hunting companion, we focus on building a dog that is confident in the field and easier to handle at home.

How We Build a Better Hunting Dog

A good pointing dog needs exposure, confidence, control, and repetition. Training is layered so the dog understands the work before pressure is added.

1

Foundation & Control

We teach the core commands the dog will need in the field and at home, then condition those commands so the dog can be handled with consistency.

2

Birds & Gunfire

Bird work and gun introduction are handled carefully so the dog builds confidence instead of confusion or pressure around birds and shooting.

3

Real Field Experience

The dog is hunted in multiple terrain types and works real birds so the training transfers from the yard to actual upland hunting situations.

Advanced Pointing Dog Work

For dogs ready to go further, additional training can be added month to month. Advanced work may include honor/backing work and steadiness to wing, shot, and fall.

Is This Program Right for Your Dog?

Pointing dog training is a good fit for owners who want a capable upland dog with structured obedience, bird experience, gun confidence, and professional handling before hunting season.

Good Candidates

  • Pointing breeds and versatile gun dogs
  • Dogs 6 months of age and older
  • Young dogs that need a correct start on birds and gunfire
  • Dogs with natural point that need control and experience
  • Owners who want a practical hunting companion, not just yard obedience

What Owners Can Expect

  • A dog that has been exposed to birds, cover, and gunfire
  • Clearer field handling and better obedience
  • Professional feedback on your dog’s strengths and progress
  • A hand-off session so you know how to continue the work
  • A stronger foundation for future hunting seasons
