Live Bird Work
If your dog will be hunting upland game, plan on approximately $450 for the 20 live birds we shoot over your dog during its training. Having your dog work real game birds in real cover is a game-changer.
Owners may pay for birds up front or at the end of the program.
During training, we run your dog in multiple fields and cover types to:
  • Build confidence in hunting and searching
  • Develop the nose
  • Teach the dog to handle cripples
  • Condition the dog to the flush and shot
  • Build overall hunting awareness and athleticism
We intentionally spread birds over several hunts so each session can be absorbed without overwhelming the dog. This gives your dog a major head start—your dog will literally be hunting and have birds shot over it before it even goes home.
When your dog finishes training, we typically shoot and film 3–4 birds over your dog so you can watch it perform in a true hunting scenario.
If additional birds are needed for your dog to progress further, the owner will be responsible for those costs.
While in training, your dog also receives extensive bird work with dead pheasants, ducks, and chukar at no additional cost.

Dog Food

We feed Purina Pro Plan Sport Performance 30/20, a high-quality working-dog formula that consistently produces great results.
To avoid the hassle of bringing food, many owners choose to simply pay the $75/month food charge.
However, if you prefer your own brand or your dog has dietary needs, you're welcome to bring your own food.

Please bring one large bag of food per month your dog will be with us. We follow the feeding guidelines on the bag; most working dogs receive 3½–4 cups per day.
Some dogs with unusually high metabolism or extra-large breeds may require more food. If your dog needs more than the recommended daily amount, the owner will be responsible for the additional food cost.
