After training
Sending a dog to us is a leap of trust. Getting that dog back — and knowing how to handle it — is the part we take just as seriously as the weeks in the kennel.
We train you, too
A finished dog doesn’t do much good if you aren’t sure what to say when you get home. Before pickup, we’ll email you a list of commands in plain language, and the password for our training videos. Watch them before you come — it gives you a picture of what the work looks like, and pickup goes a lot smoother. Then keep them for home. Nobody remembers all of it in one sitting, and you shouldn’t have to.
We also film your dog — not a generic demo, your dog. You’ll see it run through obedience, and if it was here for hunting, you’ll see birds: a couple shot in the upland field, or ducks picked up in a training session. That way, when it walks back in your house, you already know what it’s capable of.
Plan on an hour or two at pickup. We’ll work the dog with you, hands on, until you feel ready to take it home.
Then go do the real thing
School is over. Now it needs birds, miles, and time with you. The more you hunt it, the more the training settles in. A gun dog gets better the same way people do — by actually doing the work. Take it. That’s the fun part.
We’re still here
If something feels off after you get home, don’t sit with it. Read the command list, watch the videos, then call or email. Most of it we can sort out on the phone. If we can’t, we’ll meet you in person and work the dog together until it clicks.
That help doesn’t expire. For the life of the dog, you’re part of this kennel. And when the next puppy comes along — second, third, fourth — we’d be glad to see you again.
